Colours recording and other stuff...

So we just finished recording in Seoul for the second weekend in a row.  Our dreams of having our album finished after the second weekend didn't come true.  It's mostly post production stuff that needs fixing (levels, fades, etc.) so we've booked a few more house in mid May to go finish the album.  I just hope it's REALLY done before our scheduled album release show on May 31st...:)

In other news, time is FLYING by.  I can't believe we have friends coming to visit in less than a month.  Then we'll be heading off to Europe 3 months after that...and then back to good ol' CALIFORNIA!

I'm getting more and more excited the closer it gets.  I'm trying to chill out and soak up the remaining time I have left in Korea...but I'm just so damn excited to see my family and friends in Europe and back home.

The start of a new semester...

Today is the first day of my last semester in Korea.  It's been a wonderful experience living in Korea, experiencing the culture, traveling asia, making new friends, and watching my students grow from 1st grade middle school students (babies) and moving on to high school.  They are at such a pivotal point in their lives and it's really cool to see them change into adults and move on to bigger and better things.

We have about four and a half more months of teaching, then about two weeks of Summer camp...and then we just need to wait for our contract to end the last week of August.  I have a feeling the next six months are going to fly by, and I honestly can't wait.  I've missed my family and friends back home so much.  We have been lucky enough to have some visitors, and we still have more visitors coming, which will make the time go by really quickly I think.

Besides my general excitement about coming home, my band is about ready to head into the studio in Seoul to record a full-length...ish album.  I say "ish" because it's only 9 songs...but whatever haha.  I'll make sure to post some pictures of the process.  I really can't wait to get to work on it.

Until next time...

Stuff...'n Stuff

Once again, I've started really slacking at this blogging thing so rather than try to go over everything since my last post, I'm just going to start from the most recent stuff, and our plans for the immediate future.

The most recent development in our lives, besides the unreasonably cold temperature outside, is that we have four of our favorite people coming out to visit us in May.  Our friend Sarah bought her husband/my good friend, Chris, a ticket out here for Christmas.  I was in on that surprise, but the day after Christmas, they surprised us by letting us know our friends Derek and Cory will be coming too! Woohoo!!!  Needless to say, we can't wait.

In other news, the semester came to an end and we've been stressing ourselves out about preparing our Winter English Camps.  I'm on day five of six, so just one more day and I get to relax and plan some activities for our vacation.

We've been so fortunate to have the opportunity to explore so many cool places in Asia since we've been living in Korea.  Last winter break we spent nine days in Japan, and nine days on Boracay in the Philippines.  Then during summer vacation we spent about twenty days traveling around Southeast Asia.  We started in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, then made our way up to Phuket, Thailand to meet up with some of our friends.  From there, we visited Phi Phi Island, Krabi, and ended our Thailand visit in Bangkok.  From Bangkok, Alyssa and I took the train to the Thailand-Cambodia border and we spend the next week exploring Siem Reip and Phnom Penh.  It's just crazy to think that five years ago, visiting these places had never really crossed my mind.  I'd always thought of vacation as a trip to Europe or something.

Anyways, for this winter vacation, we decided to go to Indonesia.  Specifically Bali, East Java, and the Gili Islands.  We are staying in bamboo eco-huts for a good portion of the trip and plan on soaking up as much of the culture and scenery as possible.

As lucky as I feel and as happy as I've been to stay in Korea for a second year, I really can't wait start our trip home in eight months.  I've missed my family and friends A LOT and really can't wait to be reunited.

Until next time...
